Harper’s Hut

I’m virtually grabbing every one of your hands, jumping up and down and squealing with excitement — Harper’s Hut is done!

Papa worked hard over the weekend to put together the cutest little surf shack for the cutest little surfer grom and now we can sit back, stare and wait impatiently for his arrival.

If you ask me, Harper’s Hut is perfect. Papa picked out the color, patiently created the thatched frame from bamboo and secured everything together using raw twine (he wanted to avoid using anything that might fall and pose a choking hazard –how cute and smart is that?). The best part about Harper’s nursery is that it cost us about $50.00! Seriously! The most expensive item aside from the crib was the grass that hangs from the hut (which are actually hula skirts we purchased at the International Market Place and re-worked).

We’re still waiting on all the bedding to arrive since apparently finding crib sheets for a mini sized crib is not as easy as the furniture salesman made it out to be — HMPH! Once everything is in it’s perfect place I’ll post some completely done pics but until them check out our little man’s nook:

Baby Boats

Six little ships, each numbered and hand-pieced from richly colored canvas and yarn-dyed cotton, sail across a wavy chambray sea. The quilt and bumper are hand quilted and hand embroidered, with a school of jewel-stitched fish and running stitch waves.

The quilt and bumper are finely sewn of cotton canvas and percale, with hand-embroidered appliqués, bias-cut striped piping and yarn-dyed stripes on the reverse. Ahoy Matey

Let baby set sail for slumberland wrapped in this lightweight flannel blanket, or carry it around in your diaper bag to use as a changing pad (just think of the “poopdeck” jokes you could make!). This blanket is the perfect size for swaddling baby, which research shows can help reduce arousal, or the tendency for baby to awaken during sleep, it can enhance neuromuscular development in low birth weight infants and even plays a role in lowering the risk of SIDS. Research shows that swaddling helps infants remain in REM sleep for longer periods, aiding their physical and cognitive growth. Enjoy the benefits of swaddling with this clever pirate themed flannel!

Beach Baby Nursery

I know, I know, I don’t have a baby and I’m not quite pregnant but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to post about this adorable nursery. I came across this beachy chic room while cruising on alistbaby.net and wanted to make sure that I had it stored some place safe for future retrieval. I especially love the mix-matched sand shovel “art” and simple accents that make this room cozy and not overly beach themed. This room is not only adorable but would fit nicely into the decor of my home as is…now all we need is a cute little one to go in the crib and we are set!
