Long ago, before Harper’s arrival, during a time in my life where I desperately needed some uplifting and focus I had an idea: 26 letters, endless possibilities. A word a week. A personal mantra, an emotion, inspiration, a goal.
To focus one’s mind from the endless distractions of life, to remember to take deep breaths, to pause, observe, appreciate. One word, a jumble of letters and the limitless potential to open our minds, our hearts, our souls to this incredible journey of life. One word at a time, one day at a time and hopefully the evolution of a soul.
I’ve decided to bring back this little experiment and invite you to join me in this challenge. However simple it may seem I believe the power of this exercise may transform our days and maybe even lives in ways never imagined. I’m going to start with the words that I began with way back in February of 2010 and continue on from there.
Today let’s Embrace.

:to take or clasp in the arms; press to the bosom; hug.
:to take or receive gladly or eagerly; accept willingly
: to embrace an idea.
:to avail oneself of
: to embrace an opportunity.
:to adopt (a profession, a religion, etc.)
:to take in with the eye or the mind.
:to encircle; surround; enclose.
:to include or contain
How will you embrace the day? Those around you? Challenges? Victories? The seemingly trivial and the profound?
I challenge myself, and I challenge you to embrace each moment of today. Slow down and take it in. Don’t let moments simply pass you by but embrace each one and grab hold appreciating the gift of now. I’ll leave you with this quote and wish you a day of joy and a new awareness as you embrace what lies ahead:
“Never anticipate a moment or day in your life, instead learn to anticipate every moment and embrace everyday. Find greatness in everything and purpose even in the hardest times.”
